7th Grade STEM Cohort 2020-2021
"Schooldemic" STEM Grand Challenge
In Social Studies, students worked in virtual groups to complete research about Covid-19 in other parts of the world and how they are responding to the pandemic (Middle East/Africa). Students worked in a word document, completing different parts of research, simultaneously.
After compiling research from their country, students then compared their country's effort to stop the spread and compared it to the United States efforts. They looked at factors that could influence the way that their country is tackling the pandemic: cultural aspects, economy, access to education and health care, environmental issues, government, etc. . .
Standards: SS7G2 Explain environmental issues across the continent of Africa. a. Explain how water pollution and unequal access to water impacts irrigation, trade, industry, and drinking water
SS7CG2 Analyze how government instability in Africa impacts standard of living. a. Describe the impact of government instability on access to education and the distribution of medicine and food to combat diseases and famine across Africa.
