Learners are producers and not merely consumers of technology through the development of multi-media products, digital journals, BLOG posts, websites, coding and programming, robotics, augmented/virtual/mixed reality tools, Apps, digital probes to collect data, O365 tools, etc. CTLS - houses all of the students work through the digital sessions for the entire year.
Build
During this project, the students applied the science concepts of heat transfer (conduction, convection, and radiation) and conductors and insulators from our Energy unit (S8P2) and radiation, reflection, and absorption from our Waves unit (s*to build a solar oven they designed in math class, based on their reading of The Hunger Games in ELA. The pictures below show the students building their solar oven.
Test, Evaluate, and Redesign (Final Products)
During this phase of the project, the students tested their solar ovens to determine whether the ovens could reach a temperature of at least 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
Rubrics
Below are three student rubrics used to score the final project and EDP.
Learners are encouraged to self-assess (using rubrics, checklists, etc.) and reflect on their learning
