SCAMPER Activity
To begin this Schooldemic challenge, working from home Ms. Robinson (along with Mrs. Amlett who was Robinson's in-class sub while she was quarantined teaching from home) introduced the students to the idea of repurposing items to meet the needs of a challenge. To do this, we used the SCAMPER technique and many, many binder clips! It was a fun way to get our brains in gear for the Imagine stage of the EDP!
Product Pitches: A Partnership with Georgia Tech STEM Department
Once STEM students had their preliminary designs for the Schooldemic products ready, they mustered up their courage and pitched their products to the GA Tech Stem Department leads, Andrew Morgan and Priyank Patel who graciously joined us for a virtual session! The students brushed up on their speaking and writing skills, and got valuable feedback from Andrew and Priyank about how to improve or, in some instances, design a new product that would be a valuable tool to use in schools during a pandemic. We had just completed an advertising unit, so this was the perfect practice to pitch our product ideas. Before we pitched our product, Andrew and Priyank graciously introduced us to the different areas of STEM that GA Tech has.
