STEM Cooking Survival Tool
SS8H2 Analyze the colonial period of Georgia’s history.
SS8H4 Explain significant factors that affected westward expansion in Georgia between 1789 and 1840.
In your STEM classes you are designing and creating a survival tool that can be used for cooking. The Social Studies' requirement for this projects is that the device must be designed to be used by one of three groups: (1) Cherokee Indians on the Trail of Tears, (2) Frontiersmen who are exploring or trapping, or (3) Colonial Farmers. I have included a short film which gives you an ideal of what life was like for these three group below.
Cherokee on the Trail of Tears
Frontiersmen
Colonial Farmers
Once you have chosen your group for whom you will design the device, please complete the document under lesson assignments. An example of how to complete the sheet is under lesson resources.

Students work in progress
There are students working on their portion of the solar oven project in my class. They had to adapt and explain why and how the oven would be useful for one of three groups from Georgia Studies:

Fur Trappers on the Frontier
Colonial Farmers.
